Launche of the Brescia Trasporti School for young student drivers
Announced at the end of 2017, the selection of young drivers will soon come to an end with the recruitment of 16 people out of a total of 20 participants and over 100 applicants.
The applicants were selected based on their CVs and interviews and enrolled in driving schools authorised to issue D driving licences and CQC Persone (Carta di Qualificazione del Conducente), and at the same time participated in more than 100 hours of training including the theoretical and behind-the-wheel driving lessons necessary to acquire all the skills required to work as a driver of public transport vehicles. In order to be able to be permanently employed by Brescia Trasporti, during the long training process the candidates had to take and pass a number of tests.
Brescia Trasporti bore the cost of the entire training programme, thus offering an opportunity to some young people who were looking for work.
The average age of the group is 26.3, the youngest just recently turning 22 years of age.
With this initiative Brescia Trasporti sought to launch and test an innovative method for selecting personnel, and, given the more than positive feedback, it has been decided that the programme will become permanent, creating an internal resource for recruiting new personnel, a Brescia Trasporti school for young drivers that hopefully over time can train a new class of drivers, trained by the same resources who today constitute and successfully offer public transport service.
